New Song Posted ..... (and the mix sucks)

Hello again everyone... been awhile since I last posted anything. Started recording/mixing a new song with my band and I'm not pleased with the output. To me, it sounds very flat and has a bit too much fluctuation with the drums. So I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can provide input on.

But first.. a little history. I do all my recording in my basement using direct line for guitars using a Line 6 POD. Once the tracks are recorded in Acid Pro, I export the WAVs and import them into Ardour GTK2 (on a different PC). Why? I dunno... just more familiar with it and it has more "creative space." Now, onto the questions:

1. Should I "normalize" all the guitar tracks before I start tweaking with EQs and Gains? Or, should I keep the tracks at their relative size (i.e... peaks and valleys as is) and go from there?

2. What are the typical areas to address as far as Hz and KHz for guitars when EQ'ing? I'm a drummer, so my ears don't hear what guitarists want to hear!!

3. How much EQ'ing should be done within Jamin (Mastering suite)? And again, where are the relative areas to touch up on?

Pls have a listen.... and provide input. Any advice is good advice as far as this is concerned!!! The song "Retribution" is in my profile in case this link doesn't work.

Thanks in advance!!

Since my last post, I did a few more mods to the sound and uploaded my results. Change Log: Aside from standard compression, I used a de-esser on both guitar tracks and removed the most annoying frequency and then used a 4-Band Parametric EQ and focused specifically on the 55 Hz, 275 Hz, 4 KHz, and 6 KHz. Once that was all neat and tidy, I added just a spec of reverb.

All in all, I think the changes helped a lot. Of course, you won't have the original to compare now, but I still need advice on EQ in general when mastering. Is there frequencies I need to bring up/down? Thanks for listening!!!

I'll give it a listen as well when I get back home. I should get back by the 24th at the absolute latest. (and I now realize typing on an iPod sucks)

Well... I guess I decided to jump the gun as I wanted to get our songs "out there" prior to xmas break. The idea was to pass out our demo whilst we all travel and meet family and friends. So, I posted my latest mixes out on our myspace page for your listening pleasure:
