I have logic pro 9 running on a MBP

What I'm trying to get is something like the opening of Iyaz's new song "Replay"

Just the effect

here's the song on youtube:

If anyone knows how to do that let me know!

Thanks
Brandon

There's a few things going on. I'm wondering if you mean the digitalized sound of the voice, that's very prevalent in "r&b" and pop songs these days?

If so, it's usually attained by pushing an autotune effect past what sounds normal. Look at youtube videos for antares autotune....

If you're looking for something else, let us know.

I dont hear any of the hardcore autotuning that i first expected, so im guessing the effect ur talking about is actually the stuttering? like the re re play ay ay type stuff?

that can be done by a glitch effect, whcih is a bit random but u can sync it to tempo. The effect in the glitch program will be called a "repeater", its actually just that, repeating a small segment. A chopper will give u more control but it wont repeat.

u can manually just use ur DAW (logic) to cut and paste a bunch of word segments, line them up the way u want and itll be that effect, just a very time consuming way about it.

coolo- No not the autotune. Literally the first second when the choir voices come in a split second before he starts singing. It very faint.

crux- not what i was looking for but thanks!! I probably would have been on here asking how to do that too! haha :P

Well first there is the sea shore sound. I'm assuming that's not what your're talking about. Then there's kind of a woosh sound that leads into the choir. It's as if a record player was starting from stop and getting up to speed with the needle already touching the vinyl. Need to find someone with serato to make that happen. Or use a sample from vinyl.... unless there's a plugin that does this, but I'm not aware of any (not that I'm some sort of plug in know it all or anything, so it might be out there...)

the effect that does the vinyly thingy described i think is called a tape stop, i have one from downloading random freebies and all it does is that, revs up and down a tape sound and simulates that. My glitch plugin also has a tapestop function.

is that one it?
