You should fill out your gear list n your profile so we know what kind of PC you have, what type of sound card and stuff like that.

First, go to Cakewalk and download the free update to Sonar 2.2 and install that.

if you've got one of the newer Sound Blasters, like the "Live!" series, then you may have set up one of the built-in delay effects. Does it so it on everything that plays back? -j

Or, with a consumer-type soundcard, you may have "What you Hear" selected as your recording source. This would cause a loop in the source with one signal slightly delayed due to latency.

MKF, did you open the windows audio panel and check to see in the options, recording tab to see if you have the what you hear option selected as blue had said.

And it would really help if we knew what gear you were using, like the sound card you are using and such.

OK, down in the lower right hand corner of your screen will be an icon that looks like a speaker. double click on that, it brings up the windows audio control panel. Now you will see the choices along the top, click the one that says options then click the one that says recording now you will see a list of the volume controls for certain things. The one that is marked line in will have a what you hear button or check box, make sure it is not checked or that the button is off. This will sto it from recording your stuff twice.

Dude, you will never get a decent sound from an embedded chip. It's probably the ol' AC'97 codec, not exactly built for performance...M-Audio sells their Audiophile 2496 for about $170 or so...check the link in The Gear Bag, it'll be the best money you spend for your music...seriously.

And aside form sounding much better, it will be much easier to manage and keep in sync with any audio app you run.
