Headphone Amplifier and Mic/Guitar Preamp in One?

Hello, and thanks for the help in advance!

I'm primarily interested in digital audio with my main instruments being MIDI (drum machines, synths, etc.). However, I also fiddle with bass and vocals enough that I'd like to be able to record them as well.

With the audiocard I purchased recently (M-Audio Delta 44), it requires an amp between its breakout box and the sound source (headphones or speakers). It also requires preamps between the guitars/mics and itself for recording.

Is there a unit that would function as both a headphone amplifier for the mono outs (combing them for stereo for phones at the moment) and as a preamp for the bass/mic?

Links are always appreciated!!!! Thanks guys!

Most ppl will soon chime in with the Line 6 toneport units, which do exactly wat ur looking for but im also going to suggest other units by M-Audio.

The Delta one u have is a bit limited for ur applications, its more geared toward ppl doing alot of acoustic recording as it doesnt have a ton of digital audio functions and also the limitations u mentioned.

but something like their USB units such as the Fast Track Pro has all the preamps built in, headphone monitoring output and also midi input so u can hook up a midi controller, something like that would have u totally setup for wat u said u will be doing

other good ones are the Focusrite Saffire units, which r firewire but really really good in my opinion

The line 6 units dont have midi input/output but i use the KB37 which is also a midi controller ontop of audio interface with headphone out. I would recommend Line 6 more or less only for its great modeling which will help if u dont wanna ever have to get into the whole business of mic'ing amps n such

Yep, it sounds like you already have the midi control covered so something from Line 6 like the Toneport UX-2 wouls be right up your alley. It is a 2 channel audio interface with some killer guitar, bass and vocal pre amp emulation's built into it via software. It as well has both line outputs and dedicated headphone output as well. Very easy to use and set up and extremely reliable as well.
