Tascam US-144 _ Cubase Le + Vista

Trying to record a violin with condenser mic, Tascam US-144 and high end PC with vista. I followed all instructions - updated drivers and firmware when installing.
When I attempt to record with Cubase it does not "see" the microphone. The level monitor does not register. Appears I am missing a command or other to tell the PC to "see" the Tascam unit / microphone. Any ideas appreciated trying to get a pre-screening CD made for Daughter's music school application!
Cheers

sounds like you need to setup a connection in "VST connections"
you'll find this under the "devices menu" in the Cubase tool bar at top.

click vst connections and setup your mic routing. it will tell you how in your setup manual.

that, and make sure if its a condenser, you have the 48V switch turned on. condensers run off the 48V power, or Phantom Power.

just make sure your mic is plugged in before you flick the switch, and turn it off before disconnecting it or you'll fry the mic.
