Click track volume to low.

Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to recording and I have run into an issue I don't know how to fix. I'm using Logic, and an Alesis IO/26 to record my buddies drums. I can't turn the volume up on the click track loud enough for him to hear while playing. I have seen things called headphone amplifiers but I'm not sure this would do the job. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Yeah a headphone amp would probalby fix the problem but wat r using now? most soundcards have an headphone amp out that hsould get pretty loud

one way taht might save u money is just try other clicks, some things just cut through better and r easier to hear, such as cowbell sounds n such. On cubase i know teh standard midi click is pretty hard to use when ur playing loud, it doesnt cut through enough and thus my band uses a really raucous cowbell.

also note that if ur drummer is really groovin to the metronome its not uncommon for him to not be able to hear it, its kind of eerie for most drumemrs at first but when ur really syncing the click kind of just gets swallowed up in it, if tahst the case just gotta get use to and realize ur actually doing a really good job

What is the metronome db level set to in Logic? I can control my phones with the volume knob but I can also control the overall send level from my DAW. If the DAW is set to -20 DB then all the volume knob twisting in the world will not compete with drums.

Also, what headphones are you using? Drums are loud and you will need something that at least blocks a little room noise.

Certainly do not use a 100 watt reference amplifier...I blew my favorite headphones up yesterday that way :(

Heh... We used to destroy old phones like that for fun. If you're really careful, sometimes you can get some nice fireworks. Other times, the drivers liberate themselves rather instantly with hardly even a puff of smoke.
