IM USING A MARSHALL CONDENSOR MIC CONNECTED TO A M-AUDIO PRE AMP TO THE LAPTOP.

I CHANGED THE PREFRENCES IN ACID PRO TO RECORD OFF THE PRE AMP LINE 1

MY VOCALS ARE GOOD WHEN STARTING BUT THEN GET LOWER N LOWER WHEN CONTINUING TO RECORD.

I HAVE ALL THE SETTINGS UP LATENCY TO 256
ALL THE LINES ARE ON INPUT 1 ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I TRIED A CLOSET OPEN ROOM CORNER N NOTHING

CAN SOMEONE HELP SO I CAN GET TO WORK LOL

Welcome to HRC first off.

And secondly. Turn your caps lock off. That is considered to be yelling and angry so please don't do that.

From what your describing it sound's like you have a bad pre amp or what ever the M-Audio piece is. I'll assume it is an interface with a pre amp built in. But if you could give us the exact model number of the M-Audio unit to start with. And then the spec's of your PC. Like CPU speed, amount of RAM, hard drive size and if you have more then one. As well which Marshall mic do you have and what kind of cable are you using to hook it to the M-Audio?

Also! Welcome! I agree with Noize. The pre-amp gain and input gain may need to be checked. Are you using the M-Audio Audio Buddy pre-amp by chance? I know those are packaged with the MXL 990's sometimes...

Have you tried playing with the gain settings on the pre-amp? It would interesting to hear a sample of what you mean if you want to link us to an mp3 or wav.

You should not need the gain all the way up.

More then likely its one of two things. Your not feeding your MXL mic phantom power. Your using the M-Audio box powered off the USB and your USB cannot supply enough current to keep the pre amp and the phantom power running to the mic.

Or the mic or M-Audio unit are toast. I've heard shady goings on with acorn designs so wouldn't put it past them to be selling B stock and its probably a failing unit.
