Ok guys...Im not a total newbiw to recording...but I am in need to buy a new/used Multi track recorder for my home studio!

I was looking at a Yamaha 16g or the 1600...but I dont really want a super small screen! So any suggestions on MTR's with VGA output options?

Im looking for...

at a minimum of 12 or more tracks
As many on board options as possible
VGA option
CD burner

I dont have a comptuer to hook up, but if you guys think there is a better option, or a cheaper/better option...Im open for suggestions!

Thanks Guys

The ONLY one that I am aware of that has VGA output is the Roland VS-2480CD. It matches your requirments but is not cheap. There may be others now but at the time I bought mine there were no other VGA options. Along with VGA it also includes ports for a mouse and keyboard.

What computer are you using to get on the internet? That could be enough to record on if its usable for that.

To be honest there are no other digital work station's like that for that kind of price with VGA out on them. That is something you won't find on many other then the Roland units or the big boys. Not going to find that on the smaller units like that Yamaha of that size.

A PC can be had for a pretty cheap price and depending on how many tracks your going to be doing at once an interface can be had pretty budget priced as well.

noize has a good point (granted we are biased towards usin' computers)....if mobility is a must, i'd even consider a used laptop with 512 MB of ram or more....and use it ONLY for recording....don't even connect it to the net. you'll be able to do MUCH more with a mouse and external monitor and a keyboard, than you can do with a box with some sliders and a burner on the side.

here is another issue, if you are used to, and more comfortable with the old 4 and 8 track cassette recorders, then some of these all in one boxes might be easier to work on...well actually now that i think about it, it's those kinda ppl that come into the shop confused beyond all recognition on how work the darn thing....menus, sub menus, and multifunction buttons can be a pain in the arse to work with.

i take it back, buy a used laptop from a computer store, far better bang for the buck. and speaking of bucks, i forgot about the interface....ok what's yer budget?

interface and laptop rig VS all in one box FIGHT!!!

oh yeah, welcome to HRC!!!

The Roland VS-2400CD is MOBILE, PROPRIETARY, HAS ITS' OWN CD-BURNER. Included Roland embroidered carry case on wheels. Easy interfacing. Edirol compatible, R-bus connectable. Check out the add. There are some hypertext links for finding out more on the Ebay page as well. I don't think you'll go wrong with this one. Later,

OH Yeah, and it has both VGA, Mouse, and Keyboard connections. I have a 2480 on a 24" screen. I'm including a 15" monitor with the sale.

Hmm. okay i'm sorry but is anyone else slightly annoyed at some guy on here trying to make a sale (quite an expensive one at that). Is that sort of thing even allowed on HRC? For some reason i assumed that was against forum rules or whatever. Advertisement.

Anyway, for a thousand dollars you could get a much better PC and audio interface that'd give you much more flexibility than his sale. Let us know your budget and we'll throw ideas at you :]

Haha sorry guys, i just really don't like that dudes tone with the way he's saying things. No offense darrell, but making things sound flawless and like the best deal on the planet usually makes people roll their eyes. Especially considering you joined HRC just to make a sales pitch.

I'm with ya Fragile. Pretty much spammity spam.

And ya, its against the rules, mostly for the fact he as you stated just hopped in and did nothing but drop an add. I don't see him anywhere else participating.

Aside from that, the thread is kinda dead for nearly a month now.

Hi Joe Marsh,

I would recommend you to use a software solution rather than a hardware one.

It will cost you lot lesser. There are lot of solutions available. I googled a review (www.softwarereviewboffin....der-review.html
) six months ago when I too needed a similar solution and I came across Acoustic Labs Multitrack Recorder.

I have used it and it does an excellent job. You can also have a try to it.

Send me your feedback too.
