Doesn't sound bad at all for a first mix. The drum is a little "tinny" but maybe that's because of the MP3 compression. I did have trouble though with the voice and the rest of the mix; there are too many frequencies fighting for room. I realize you don't want the sexy voice to stand out too much, but some EQing here and there might give the voice that little extra touch. Again, not bad at all imo.

I had a quick listen. Nicely done and a very nice piece of music as well. I will give a better listen tomorrow and let you know what I think about the mix itself.

It sound as though you are going for a sound similar to Enigma. There is a lot of work to get all the layers to blend without stepping on each other. You are so very close with this mix. For the most part if that is the sound you are going for then you are pretty much there.

Rather then EQ I think it is more needing to find the instruments that need to be pulled back for a moment to clear the way. This type of music requires a large amount of automation to bring the different elements in and out. I wish you had a larger sample piece to listen to as the piece evolved so we could hear more of what is going on with it.

But from here it sounds as though you are really on the right track for this type of music.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. But the adjustment's need not be huge. By the sounds of the mix as it is it will only take very small amounts to make it happen. And yes, it will probably only be certain instrument's that need this as well.

If you find the synth parts that conflict with or sit in the same frequency range as the vocal then those will be the one or one's that need to be pulled back then restored a bit.

This will also work for any lead instrument's that are featured in the mix as well. That was why I was stating it would be good to hear the whole piece to judge better were and when things might need to be tweaked.

But it sounds like you have the exact idea of what is needed to make the mix have all the pieces featured fit together better.

And yes, I think although it sounds bright it still has a very warm feel to it.
