I am wondering what the general consensus is about quantizing, or even manually "lining up" music that's been recorded. We recently went into a studio and that process really seemed to tighten up everything. Thoughts?

Sep 25, 2009 10:19 am if the tightness is called for, yeah, I love quanitizing, but for some music I think it makes it sound unnatural...totally depends on the music in my opinion.

Sep 26, 2009 12:14 am Yep, you can adjust how tightly the quantize is working. I prefer with most projects to keep it a bit looser. But on a lot of electro stuff it is pretty good to keep it completely spot on as that is the nature of that beast.
Sep 28, 2009 09:18 am Well, I have to say that however this process was done, the music sounds nice and tight, but definitely not processed or mechanical. Kinda feels like cheating, but I must say that when people hear it and they start to groove with it, it feels pretty good. I guess in all fairness to my other musical friends, I should let the cat out of the bag. Eventually I will, but for the time being, I think I will just let them believe that we are that tight as a band :)
