I am trying to find a portable/rackable digital recorder with Firewire as an input option. Any thoughts?

My signal is coming out of ART TubeFire 8 channel preamp as digital via Firewire. I would like a way to capture this in a portable unit.

Sep 15, 2009 09:25 pm I can't say that I've seen any portable rack mountable digi recorder's. I'll maybe take a look around tomorrow or the next. I'll ask a couple dealer friends as well.

Sep 16, 2009 04:31 am yeah.. I am probably sniffing around awfully close to the laptop realm, but most of the stereo digital recorders I find are very pricey. Some of the smaller field recording devices.. the handhelds.. I am suspicious of their integrity.
It would be cool to be able to easily record my solo shows even just as a stereo two track.. so thinking of something that is not so involved which could be easily babysat.

Sep 16, 2009 08:58 pm A laptop would be the best beet in the end. But to be honest the small digital recorder's have really come a long way in the last two years. Dare I say, right now one of the most popular is the Zoom H4n. www.samsontech.com/produc...cfm?prodID=1994
It can actually be used like a 4 track if you like. I've heard a few live track's done with one and was impressed with it. If you have a retailer close by that sell's them I highly suggest giving one a good look.
