ALESIS MULTIMIX 16 FIREWIRE POWER

I've recently brought this mixing desk from someone on ebay, and when i first got the desk, it worked perfectly, the drivers were all working, it was running smoothly, i didn't use it for a couple of days, and now i've just gone to turn it on and there's just no sign of power. My guess, and i hope that it is to do with the power supply, i've seen in forums that it could be an incorrect supplier, but it is the recommended 18V, 1000Ma that alesis states. Can anyone help me?

Is it the factory power supply or an OEM replacement?

Not often, but sometimes there can be a a difference in the true output of the PSU that is not a direct factory replacement.

DO you have a multi-meter you can check the actual output with? That or a local shop that could do it for you.

I would verify that is the problem before going out and spending money on a new one only to find out it was the switch or something else.

what's an OEM and PSU? as far as i know, it looks like the factory power supply, but like i said, i can't be sure because i brought it second hand off ebay. i know a guy that probably has a mulitmeter and could check the output, but do you reckon the desk is alright?

OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer

PSU is Power SUpply

Being the desk was working well and simply did not power up, the odds are good it is simply the PSU. But you really can't be certain. Things like the on/off switch can go just like that as can other simple things. But usually if it anything other then the PSU or the on/off switch the board will at least power up.

That's ok then, i should be able to get one of those sorted, i'll get them both checked, but yeah, i was just worried my entire desk was nackered, i've got a few sessions in the next few weeks, so i'm kinda lost without it haha, needed an expert opinion. the cheapest i found a PSU for was around 30 dollars with shipping, but that could take a few weeks to get here, do you know anywhere that sells them in the uk?

I can't think of any right off. I' off to a meeting in a few minutes here. But I'll give a shot to see if I can find a UK supplier that would be faster when I return.

Hopefully I'm right on it just being the PSU then. Good luck with it for sure.

That is good that it was just that. I'm glad he is giving you a hand getting a new one.
