HELP! Midi Playback problems in Pro Tools!

I wonder if you can help me?

I'm runnning pro tools le 7.0 on xp professional with the mbox2.

My PC is a dual processor 3.06 GHz with 2 Gb of ram.

The problem i'm getting (everything was fine until recently) is that the Midi tracks are'nt playback correctly, they sometimes start playing back ok and then they just randomly stop all together, leaving the audio parts to contijue playing normally.

I sometimes get the error saying (problem detected with audio clock, check sample rate and source clock are the same) and as far as i can tell they are.

I also have a terratec 6fire 24/96 soundcard and ive also set its interface to corespond with protools sample rate and internal clock source.

other strange things that have just recently started to happen are -
I get a symbol on the taskbar (by the clock) and a pop up saying (found new hardware, media) and sometimes i get 2 or 3 of those symbols that come and go.

I also have had the error appear saying (run a dll as an app has encountereda problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvienience).

I dont know if these are related to the pro tools problem or not.

I have recently connected the pc to the internet, and as far as i can see from the digidesign website there;s no compatability issues,

I've scanned the drives with norton, and used registry mechanic, and have run chkdsk /f. the pc seems abit faster but the midi problem remains.

Can you help me fix this very annoying issue?

Any help much appreciated!

One thing to try is to check the interface settings on both the M-Box and the Terra-Tec and set the M-Box as the Master and the Terra-Tec as the Slave.

I am guessing that it is clock conflict between the two and not related to sample rate settings. I would make sure they are both set for 16 or 24 bit at 44.100 or whatever sample rate you are using. That could cause that kind of issue as well.
