Recording from mixer-multitrack recorder?

I've been working with recording for almost two years now. I have a fostex mr-8 8-track recorder. The problem is that I need mic preamps and more xlr inpunts, and I'm wondering if I can get a mixer, and use its direct out to record on the 8-track? If not, how can I record more than 2 mics on it?

-thank you

Hey Mark...

I read your other post first, so I replied there. You really don't need to post in both places. People around here will see it no matter where you post it.

Like I said in my other post: Welcome to HRC

I fyou have a mixer with direct channel outputs then yes you can use them to go directly to the multi-track.

Also, if the mixer has channel insert's rather then direct outs you can use them as well. Simply insert the jack only to the first click and you will be on the output of the insert connection. And that will act as a direct out as well.
