Hey all,

I was at the Experience Music Project in Seattle yesterday and I snapped this photo of Jimi Hendrix's contract for his Woodstock performance. Thought you all might be interested in seeing it.

That is sweet. And not a bad wage to make back then. Airline tickets were cheaper and just plain everything was cheaper. I would love to get out there and see the Expo. That is a traveling expo isn't it? Or at least I thought it was at one time.

18k for 1969! Dam! I didn't know that anyone pulled that for a festival back then!

I think that was maybe limited to say Jimi, Janis and a few others. I'm betting Contry Joe McDonald didn't make that kind of cake.

And speaking of Woodstock, has anyone seen or purchased the anniversary DVD set with the complete show? I have heard it includes all the shows that were there but got cut to make the movie shorter for the theater.

Jimi was the headliner so I'm thinking that is why the high salary. An interesting note is that he was paid in full 10 days before he played and he was supposed to play on Sunday. The weather and other problems prevented him from playing on Sunday and he ended up playing on Monday. He probably didn't have a legal obligation to play on Monday.

NO he didn't. I have several books about Hendrix and in a couple of them there are parts about Woodstock. And indeed, the tale says he had another obligation but stayed to play for the fading crowd. I find that pretty damn cool as he could have simply walked out Sunday night without an issue.

Yeah, can you believe that so many people left before Hendrix played? That immortal Star Spangled Banner was performed in front of only about 20,000 of the nearly 500,000 people that attended at one point or another. I was so disappointed when I heard that.
