I bought the Event ASP6's to replace my Alesis M1's in my 16'x9' room. Now that I have the monitors, I decided to change my room setup per MassiveMastering's guide (www.massivemastering.com/...Room_Setup.php)
Pictures explain...

AFTER
(You'll notice these are still M1's sitting on the desk, I made room behind the desk between the desk and the keyboard. I also marked exactly where the Event's monitor stands are going to need to go. Waiting on 1/4" TRS cables...)

Jul 31, 2009 03:15 pm If your head is at the rear .38 point and you can put your speakers at the front .38 point, I can't imagine a better spot as far as low end accuracy. That's pretty typical of surround setups.
Still - I'd try to get some broadband trapping in those corners. But you should be getting the most out of the room in any case.

Jul 31, 2009 03:27 pm The doors to my room get in the way of the corners behind the desk...but I could put some in the corners in front of the desk. What's your opinion on wooden planks vs GiK trappings?
Aug 01, 2009 01:07 am Slat resonators or not, you need broadband trapping behind them anyway...
But in a room that size - As much as I hate a 'dead' room, killing it is the better option.

Aug 01, 2009 06:44 pm Very nicely done Quincy. I like what you did measuring out and setting it up.

So I would need broadband trapping if the room were larger...but because the room is smaller I need to kill...what and how?
Aug 03, 2009 11:38 pm LOTS of broadband trapping in a smaller room. Larger rooms require less "per amount of space" but still require it (and plenty of it). Smaller, especially typical rectangular spaces (such as almost any room in a home) require more than usual (as the problems are inherently much worse than would be encountered in a typical "built for audio" room).

Aug 04, 2009 04:03 pm Ok...I'll do some research and make another post with screenshots when I have something worked out for broadband trapping.
Thanks for all your insight
