I'm looking for a quick way to listen to drum samples, preferably similar to the way Reason's ReDrum or Acid Pro have done it. Both have features that allow you to select an audio file (such as a drum sample) and have the file play back right through explorer.
Any suggestions?

Jul 14, 2009 09:11 pm Sadly Windoze Exploder doesn't think people want that. They just let WMP open when you double click a file and they figure that is good enough.
I have used an app called Powerdesk for years and love it. Its 110% better then Windows explorer and has preview set up that you are looking for. That's why I got into it so I could plow through my samples before Sonar had the loop explorer view.

Jul 15, 2009 10:45 am Vista actually has some cool features when it comes to handling media files. One of the view modes puts a player at the top of the explorer pane and plays while you hover over the files' thumbnails. I haven't tried it for audio, but it works for video.
So...yeah...Vista has that going for it...

Jul 15, 2009 06:04 pm I hadn't seen that in Vista yet. Not something they boast about.
