BOSS BR1600 CD "WRITE SPEED" PROBLEMO

Greetings all,

I am a new owner of a BOSS BR1600, and this thing has a steep learning curve. I have bouned and mixed a tune, and as I attempt to follow the manual to write to a CD after mixing, and I get to the "write speed" to burn the tune to a CD-R (52X), I am stuck at "24X," while the manual states that I should use time/value knob to set it to "8X." I'm stuck at 24X, cannot move it off of that with the time/value knob or any cursor, and my final disk is essentially empty ("disk error" is what my various CD players are saying). I went out and bought "slower" CD-R/W (12X) without any success...same story. Stuck at 24X with no sound on the CD.

Thanks in advance for thoughts.

I'm not sure re-writable media will work but... the CD-R I buy support 1x - 52x and I believe that is pretty standard. You should not have to buy slower media to burn at a lower rate.

Confusing indeed, wish I had more to offer.

Is it a used item? Possible that the CD drive is bunk?

Interesting that you asked if it is used. I bought it as "new" floor model, but the demo songs were not to be found and it started on "Song 17," making me wonder if, in fact, it had been used and then displayed. Thanks for the thought.
