USB FastTrack Mic Noise :(

Hi,

i am recording into USB FastTrack with a condenser mic and getting unbelievable 'white noise' in the background; i have tried running a lead to a computerless room and recording in there but it makes no difference

this is ridiculous - i used to fool around with analogue recording and never got this level of interference, i swopped the condenser for an ancient Sony 'stereo' mic and got exactly the same audio grief in the background :(

somebody help please! :-o

thanks

Ric

It sounds like you may have the mic input level or gain turned up too far.

You might want to look at the M-Audio control panel software and make sure its input slider is up and then you can turn the gain knob down on the box itself. That is the usual cause of that type of noise. That or a bad cable can cause noise, but normally not that much.

What software are you using as well, that might be of some help?
