I have a Tascam DP-FX01 Digital Portastudio 8 track recorder. When I try to export a WAV file to my Mac desktop (which I have done successfully in the past about 100 times), the icon does not show up. I'm getting no error messages. thanks... Larry

I just now tried doing it on a PC, and it worked fine, so it must be a problem in my Mac. Any ideas? thanks. Larry

Not much to go on, especially with a Mac. Has it been a bit of time since that last time you tried it on the Mac? I'm wondering if the com driver it used or should use has need of an update or something.

I would maybe check the Tascam site and see if there is an update for the driver's there.

the fact it is working on the PC is a good sign that it isn't the Tascam itself.

Is it possible that its selecting another target to save the file to on the Mac? I've seen that as an issue with some Roland units before.

I don' think it's been more than 2 weeks since it worked correctly. I never did load any drivers to begin with, but I'll check the website. I don't know about the target stuff you mentioned. How would I check that? thanks... Larry

Ya, it may not need a driver set up. It might simply rely on finding a single target such as the desk top on the Mac or My documents on a PC.

Does it put it on the desktop on PC as well?

I am guessing you initiate the transfer from the Tascam then and it simply sends the file without any other input from the user?

If it has options to where it puts the file I am guessing here as well that it would be in a transfer menu or something in the Tascam menu structure. I've not used one like that so am kind of going by what the norm would be for connecting external USB devices.

What's frustrating is that it has worked just fine for over a year, and I'm not doing anything different. Larry

Is it possible that an update on the Mac or a new software installation recently done caused it?

Or did you make any recent hardware changes?

I'm really stuck here and have done a search as well and found nothing that we didn't cover here that is in the norm.

Thanks for the help. My computer has an automatic software update program, so I suppose it's possible that caused a problem, but I'm not a computer guy, so I don't know how to check for that. I have an older mac and I'll see if I can make things work with that one. Larry

It works on my older mac, so now we know the problem is with my new laptop (Mac OSX 5.7). What should I be looking at to find the problem? Larry

I'm not a Mac guy but I would think you can try to rollback any updates to see if you can spot which one may have been done around the same time the Tascam stopped talking to the laptop.
