Soo.... First post! *eek* here I go.
I made some mixes from some a cappella stuff I had laying around. A cappella means just voices, so check it out, you'll be surprised.. ;)
You may not believe me, but everything is a human voice or originates from a human, fun stuff.
Everything is a little spicy in the upper end (bad monitors for mixing) so turn that treble down ;)
Watch Over You by Alterbridge - Record, Edit, Mix, and Master
Lady by Styx - Record, Edit, Mix (with the help of Bill), and Master
Starlight by Muse [REMIX] - Edit done by Ed Boyer, re-edit by myself, Mix and Master
Viva la Vida by Coldplay [REMIX] - Edit done by Ed Boyer, re-edit by myself, Mix, and Master
Non-A'Cappella:
Only a Dream by Paul Trinca (a Chip) - Record, Edit, Mix, and Master
Some notes:
Lady - Solo is a very very rough draft with no tuning aka just a scratch
Starlight - Solo isn't done, attempted an amateur AutoTune effect
So here you go:

All are in there...
I appreciate comments, I've only been doing this for a few months now, so take that into account... ;)
Thanks all!

May 22, 2009 12:04 pm Great placement with the vocals as far as mixing goes. all those vox must have been interesting to work with. plus I hear some doubling too to add even more.

May 22, 2009 03:35 pm Pretty cool to say the least. Taking into a count the high end you spoke off. But it isn't all that bad really. A little bright but not horrible at all.
Lady was great indeed. The drum machine was a little cheezy but it kind of adds to the feel and doesn't distract from the voices.
I liked the others as well. Nicely done for sure.

It is a bit tough... WAY more tracks than a traditional piece... this one was 64 tracks with most of them placed in stereo tracks. Two takes were taken of each part adding natural width to the sound.

No drum machine! That's sampled from a 'beatboxer' although we call it vocal percussion. Compressed, EQ'd and pitch shifted to find the right sound.

May 22, 2009 04:25 pm Well then, that makes it much cooler indeed. It sounds like an older drum machine for sure.
I'm impressed by the sound.

May 22, 2009 07:12 pm I will give it a listen later or tomorrow. To be honest I thought your mixes were pretty good really.

May 22, 2009 08:11 pm Those were some really good vocals! The arrangement style reminds me of something from the soundtrack of Katamari Damacy, which I happen to dig.
The stereo in city recordings are CRAZY good! You guys should tour so I can come watch this happen.
