My PA setup...will this suffice?

Alright, this is my PA setup with is sort of half assed but oh well.

From the mixing board I am running a mono signal into channel 1 of the EQ. From the EQ I am running into channel 1 of the 2-way crossover.

Now, from the high output of the cross over, I am running into channel 1 of the amp (QSC GX5, 500 watts per channel). From the Low output on the crossover, I am running into channel 2 of the amp.

From channel 1 on the amp I am running it to a Peavey 15" 2-way cab (Peavey impulse 1015) and then piggy backing to the other cab.

From channel 2 on the amp I am running to a Fender 15" sub cabinet.

The problem is, I am getting all highs from the mains and no mids. I have the crossover set at about 700K which now that I think about it may be a little high. We are contemplating going with a three way setup on the crossover and going out of the mids output for the mains and not using the high output.

Is there anything wrong with this?

700K ?????

Do you mean 700 hz?

Either way, you are way to high for a sub. For a 15" sub, you want the HPF to be around 25 - 30 hz range. And the LPF to be around 125 - 130 hz range. That will give the top box more of a range to work with.

The main part of your set up is fine. At some point, you may wish to think about going stereo. Just to get a little more on your pattern coverage. Just to get some separation on your mix.

And going to a three way FOH, will give some more headroom to your PA. But, I don't feel that you need to rush to that right now.

If 50hz 60 will kill ya.

if your crossing at 700khz your running a radio station, not a pa. As Rob stated, running 2 way cross at 125-130 from your subs to your tops. the whole 3 way crossover not using the highs made no sense at all.If all you had was a 3 way crossover, you would set the mid to high point at like 12k and use the low and mid outs anyway.

Thanks for the advice. Sorry I did mean 700hz not 700K :) I agree that it would be better to go stereo but we are waiting to purchase another sub and definitely another amp. So, with the LPF set at 125-130, I should get a good mids/highs sound out of the mains and a good sound out of the subs? I'm more concerned with the mains sounding good. If all else fails I'll say screw the lows and just run stereo through the mains.

You got it.

I think that you will find that setting the LPF filter down to 125 will give a great sound for the tops, and the subs.

And as Monmixr said, 3 way crossover just does not make sense at this point.
