Ok, I know a few of you are going to love that I'm asking this question, but I'm wondering if it's worth the extra cash to get the XL version of Sonar as opposed to the standard version.

Mar 31, 2003 01:01 pm XL comes with all softwynths and stuff...I'd say it's worth the $.
Mar 31, 2003 02:53 pm If you wouldn't use the extra plug-ins, then no. (Go to the Cakewalk site to see the plug-ins it comes with)

Mar 31, 2003 03:33 pm remember, you can buy the extras seperately, when/if you find i need for it.
Mar 31, 2003 04:33 pm Thanks guys. You've all confirmed what I was generally thinking. Simply a matter of need for the extras. Since I like to have lots of options, I think I'll go with the XL.
Mar 31, 2003 06:23 pm Lame. MF offers a "Competitive Upgrade" for Sonar XL for people switching from a competing product. Wouldn't ProTools LE be considered a competing product? I would think so, but apparently they don't. Oh well. I still have to spend a little time with Cubase before I can really justify buying another app anyway.

The whole reason they sell the XL bundle is because the add ons bought seprately are much more expensive. In the bundle they are a lot cheaper to add.
Mar 31, 2003 10:15 pm Makes sense to me. Digidesign does the same thing with the 001 system. I didn't get the "Factory Bundle" when I bought my 001, but it comes with some cool stuff that I wish I had.
