i was going to upload a sample drum recording to see if anyone could tell me what i could do to make it better. i have little experience so i dont know how compression and eq change the sound so when i hear something i dont know how to fix it... i converted the sample to mp3 and in itunes/vlc/windows media player, it plays fine but when i upload it here its got static and these weird dropping kinda high pitch noises... any ideas on how to fix this?

iv left it up*

also iv re exported to wav twice, and re converted from wav to mp3 twice and uploaded the mp3 at least 7 times

What are you making the mp3 with? Just exporting it as mp3 from Sonar?

Also, enable the download and I'll try and grab it tomorrow and see if it does that here with the download.

i should say that all iv done to it is
- cut highs a little of the kick
- i have a compression knob that goes from 0 - 10 no clue what thresh hold or any of that is actually at, but the knobs at about 3 on the kick
- cut highs a little more off the OH's (cymbals were over powering way to much.. i thought it helped)
- panned OH's close to far left and close to far right

(im using recorder man setup)

The down load worked well without any noise. I'm not sure what might be causing the player to do that. Have you tried exporting and mp3 direct from Sonar and up loading that to see what it does?

Anyway, I'll try and get a chance to listen to it a bit later or tomorrow and let you know what I think.

the exporting to mp3 from sonar has never worked for me i get errors then fix them then get more i just decided to use something else

and thanks i appreciate it!

if theres any other mp3 encoders that are free i am willing to try them i googled it but found nothing special... although i think it has something to do with my audio because its the same parts with noise and droppy things everytime.. i think i tried exporting to 16 and 32 bit too
