Hey brock, I am shuffling through some of the old freeware sites, and will let ya know where the freeware audio anylizer is at in the next couple of days. As far as reverbs go, which do you really prefer, VST or Dx. There are several to choose from and there are also soem very extreme price differances out there. Let me know.

I have compared effects, the same effect from the same maker in VST and DirectX standard. The VST is sometimes as much as 50% less in CPU usage. and they are always less, just not always that much.

So yes, VST is lighter on the system.

IMHO the best sounding Reverb Plugin I've heard is Renessance Verb from the Waves Renessance Power Pack - however, it's not too cheap and eats LOADS of CPU time.

im really diggin the freeware Ambience VST www.smartelectronix.com/~magnus/ from Smart Electronix. In fact, while you're there check out all the S.E. member's pages, there's alot of great plugs in there

Thanx Jamie, thats the one I was looking for. And brock, jues hit it on the head. For VST I use the Waves R-verb also. It is however a CPU Hog like he said. But it is well worth the money. And it is the best DSP reverb out there.

Okay...stupid question. I have Cool Edit Pro 2.0. When I D/L a DX plug-in, all I have to do is refresh my effects list. How the heck does vst work? I just downloaded a plug-in for vst, but have no idea what to do with it. Does it just not work with my program?

you just have to install or copy and paste the ".dll" file into your VST directory, then restart your VST host

It`s about time that someone post an article about reverb configurations. I know that many reverb plugins do the job just right but the presets just suck. I would like to understand how reverb parameters work, so I could configure my own settings.

Bruno, don't know if you saw it, but Jues left a great post in this forum www.homerecordingconnecti...ead&id=1859 that I've re-read several times concerning REVERB. I never knew there were so many kinds. I too would love see an article get turned out solely on this type of effect.
