I'm having a few problem setting up my KB37. Firstly I have latency when recording instruments. I've followed all the instructions on ableton but I dont understand what it means when it says I need an audio cable which can connect 1 output of my audio interface to 1 of its inputs. It then says I need to connect an audio cable from live's output 1/2 directly to Live's input 1/2.Can someone please explain what this means? I am getting very confused as all the reviews I have read say the KB37 will eliminite all latency.
I will be very grateful for any response!
Thanks.

Apr 08, 2009 12:49 pm That sounds odd. I have used a UX2 quite often, you need to output 1/2 from the KB37 to a pair of monitors or to the line in on your PC using a 2x1/4" to 1/8" jack for monitoring (or just use the headphones jack which mirrors outputs 1/2).
Make sure in ableton you have your drivers set for ASIO and the buffers around 256 or 128.
I am a little confused by what is happening, can you give a little more detail? Can you monitor correctly via headphones or speakers? Is the latency while tracking, on playback, or both?

Apr 08, 2009 09:15 pm Live's inputs and outputs are a separate entity from the KB37 is a sense.
The software needs to have its track's input assigned for recording. You will use the KB's inputs 1/2 for that.
Then for output you will again assign the tracks output to the KB37 out 1/2, which you should have hooked up to monitor's, otherwise as Tripps stated it will be mirrored at the headphone jack if you are using headphones.
Latency and hooking things up are completely unrelated though.
Can you explain exactly were you are getting stuck? What are you trying to hook up and to where?
Apr 09, 2009 08:14 am Thanks for getting back! Im getting stuck when i plug my guitar directly in to the kb37. This is when im getting latency. the driver type im using is MME/DirectX cos i get absolutley no audio when I switch to ASIO. MY buffer size is set to 256. There is latency with both tracking and playback and i get no audio when i plug my headphones into the kb37.
i realise im being pretty vague but im very new to this so im insure what to put and how to word things.

Apr 09, 2009 11:42 am Enable ASIO, and monitor through your headphones on the KB37 headphone out.
ASIO only allows one device at a time, therefore you cannot record on the KB37 and playback on your computer speakers.
ASIO will eliminate the latency, you just need a good monitoring solution.

Apr 09, 2009 09:40 pm Sadly the MME is the worst driver there is. It is an emulated driver that is made for generic use. Not intended to be used on interfaces such as the KB at all.
There should be a WDM driver choice as well. That is much better then the MME.
But ASIO works here on all my Line 6 interfaces and they all use the same driver set in the line of the KB. And I use ASIO on all of them.
