Okay, this is the first time I've tried to upload a song via the MyAccount page, and I can't get it to work. Every time I get the same message: "A file by that name already exists". (Very helpfully, this message appears AFTER I've waited 5 minutes for the upload to complete). I've renamed the file and tried again.... three times... and still the same thing.

I find it hard to believe that KeepYourDistance, KeepYrDist, and kyd have all been used before.

Has anyone else had this problem? And does anyone have any idea how I can get this to work? Or am I just getting old and impatient? (sigh)

This problem pops up now and then, I have not been able to nail it down, I will look into it tomorrow.

if it takes 5 minutes to upload, how big is the file, sometimes that error message has mistakenly been displayed when there isn't enough space in the users account.

Note to self, tomorrow is the day to fix that bug and a couple other things that have been bugging me.

Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

The file size is just under 9 MB. That shouldn't exceed the limit, I believe. (I have the full 10 MB available to me, according to the upload page).

Thanks for looking into it. Sorry if I sounded pissed off, but I've been having a long and frustrating day :)

Okay, I managed to upload the file after reducing the bit rate. Please ignore my whining posts above, I was having a bad day.

The voice on this track belongs to Charlie Lang, who very kindly applied his time and efforts to provide a real vocal for my tune. Makes all the difference, at least to my ears. I'd be interested in any feedback you may have. Thanks for listening.

Finally got around to it.

Very nice song, drums are very airy but fitting for the song.

Instruments are played well and the vocals sit rather nicely. Turn that solo up a tad around 2:30 :)

I am listening on my work speakers, so I can't really judge the mix 100%, but I hear nothing horrid atm.

I'm going to have to listen again tomorrow. But on first listen I like this indeed. That organ in there gets my attention right off.

The vocals sound a bit dry at times and could maybe use a pinch of reverb, or a little bit bigger if there is some on there. But take that with a grain, as I'll give it a better listen tomorrow.

Liked the guitars as well, they fit in nicely.

Thanks for the complimentary remarks.

I deliberately kept the voice dry on the first and last verse, abd added variable amounts of reverb in between. Didn't want the effects to be too noticeable, I think too dry is better than too wet on a personal song like this.

I think the (virtual) guitar solo is the weakest part of the whole thing. It was meant to sound like you're being "torn apart at the seams", but obviously doesn't come close. I keep promising myself I'll replace it with something better, but inspiration is still evading me...

Yeah, anything I don't like usually ends up low in the mix :) There is usually at least one thing I hate.

Agree on the verb for sure. Dry does give a disconnected feel to it.

The virtual guitar solo, I guess I didn't get the torn apart feeling either. It did catch my interest though so it isn't an absolute miss on that.

I is hard sometime to get that inspiration back that was originally there.

I know. That's one reason why I could never do this for a living. :)
