Seriously, I know it's FL and all, but what the hell is up with the maniacs?

I'm driving out to my parents house Sunday around 5:30pm, get to a stretch that's 60mph speed limit. So here I am going 65.

Some jerk comes flying down the road wanting to go 80, and starts riding my *** because the oncoming traffic is spaced just right so that he can't pass.

What do I do? I slow down to the speed limit on one of the curves. I glance at the rear view mirror a moment later, and the dude is so damned close, I can't even see his headlights or the front grille anymore.

Oh, but there was sweet justice. Not even bothering to look back, I reach over, making certain my hand is well within view of my back window, and flick the guy off. Making sure he gets a good look. Well, it seemed to work because he backed off by a good 15 ft. or so hah!

Yeah, probably not the smartest thing to do on my part, but some people just piss me off.

That's a huge pet peeve for me. Pretty much the only time I ever get mad at another human being is when I'm on the road. I have a short drive to work, but its all interstate driving. So I get to see the whole cross-section of idiot drivers every day.

My main peeve is people who don't understand that the left-most lane is for PASSING and not for MATCHING THE SPEED OF OTHER VEHICLES. What the hell is up with the jerk-offs that want to form some sort of below-the-limit blockade across 3 lanes of traffic? Some dipshit just cruising in the passing lane, doing 55 in a 65, talking on the phone, not a care in the world outside the confines of his car's cabin. Then they don't even notice when I get on their ***, flash my lights, honk my horn, whatever. They're just talking away on their phone.

In Texas, they'll ticket you for cruising in the passing lane. They have big signs on the state border stating specifically that the left lane is for passing. I wish the rest of the country would get vigilant about that too. all it does is screw up the pace of traffic. Not a big deal in low-traffic areas, but when 200 vehicles are all doing 45 in a 65 because some douchebag can't move to the right 1 lane is grounds for road rage!

Sometimes my middle finger is tired by the time I even get to work!

in most states the 'fast lane' is intended for passing and emergency vehicles only... but most states are just making the middle median big enough to fit an ambulance... and I've made use of it before.

but if it's a long term problem just phone it in as road rage... or set up a speed trap...just pull over and watch them take off into waiting police...

and if you're a little more brave you can downshift instead of break check... no noticeable break lights for the traffic cameras and you can just say your transmission slipped... or in your case that you were actually slowing down into the speed limit and the sudden decrease in speed was engine torque.

or accidentally slip off the road and spray gravel all over their hood...

That's the lovely part about winter in MN. You simply move over into the big slushy crap and give em a good spray.

Another is the twits that have no clue what the acceleration lane is for. 20 mph down the ramp into a 70mph freeway. That or they stop at the bottom and cause a huge mess on the ramp, sometimes and accident or two.

My biggest gripe here is if you don't know how to drive in the snow then stay off the road till its clear.

Idiot drivers? Really? Bah!

I dispatch taxi cabs for a living, and as far as sizing-up the general mentality of your average twit behind the wheel goes... well, let's just say that there is NO way possible for us to be an 'equal-opportunity-employer'.

For instance, we generally will not hire anyone who's driven a bus at any time throughout their driving career. Odd, isn't it? There is actually good reason.

ha ha ha! I really feel for you guys! I've only driven in the states a couple of times. Was cu-*******-unting terrifying. Don't know if you have a lot of people who drive without licenses over there or whether the standard of the driving test is really low in some states compared with others or something but some of the stuff you see on the road is really bad. I kept assuming people were just drunk. People just didn't seem to be even thinking at all quite a lot of the time.

Its the slow meandering mistakes that really worry me where people don't even seem to notice that they are doing something wrong. I've driven in Italy and Spain too. They drive like maniacs over there but at least they seem to be concentrating on what they are doing.

If you've ever been to Germany. Its a pleasure on the road.

Agreed JDOD,

Most of Europe that I have driven in has a greater sense of social order on their roads and it is a pleasure in comparison. Southeastern Michigan (Deeeetrot) is one of the worst I have experienced. Not the shear volume of NY, Boston, or CA, but the best persona I can think of is "screw you this is my road". More often than not, absolutely spitefull. They will make their drive a nightmare to spite another driver and then complain about the drive or lement for ever of how they excersized power over another driver. I decided a long time ago to leave the time I need for a drive. I don't try to make up time on the road. Stay out of the frey and enjoy the freak show. It's like psycho wrestle-mania. You can pick out the character they are today by the car, dress, and actions. Mr. Impotant with the mouth going, Ms. Exec. (those two really chash), Racy Ralphy running some imaginary race, Beauty bimbo (that one is a wildcard; all mirrors pointed in, Ranger Redneck, who is pissed and wants you to know it... Great fun! Usually very predictable corieography which makes the whole thing a little anti-climatic, but none the less a good show.

ALL RIGHT! ALL RIGHT ALREADY! I'll stay off the road! There HAPPY! =P

I have to drive 36 miles one way to work. 90% of it is highway.... Or at least it should be. I only average about 32 MPH. Due to the heavy congestion.

You want to talk about idiots. Take 150,000 people on the road at one time that is only two lanes. (I-76, first highway in the U.S.) Now add a dash of construction, and just a pinch of roving D.O.T. crews. And wallah! A recipe for instant azzholes.

I spend more time in traffic jams then I do at work. And there are so many idiots out there, that I don't even pay attention any more.

I use to get just mad as hell about them. Now, I can see them coming from about 25 car lengths back. I just move over, and let them annoy the person that I was behind.

Let someone else deal with them. Life is to short for me to worry about them any more.

Dear God Izzy! I started counting late in the video. But, I count 20 red lights ran, and nearly 8 pedestrians nearly ran over. Not to count the amount of pigeons that he nearly took out as well!

I hope the cops over there saw this video, and tracked him down from the credits!

Lets hope that they beat the living snot out of him!

Nice video, but a little unbelievable. By the sound of the RPM and gear 's he would be in at certain times during the video you shouldn't even see those cars he passes other then a blur. By the looks of it he's maybe going 5 mph faster then them for the most part, maybe 10 on certain parts.

Although they have the sound effect's mostly fitting and done well its the other traffic that gives it away.

Having owned a couple of sports cars I can attest that in 5th gear things don't go by that slowly. :-)

But cool looking no less.

Ya, I was gonna mention the red lights people and such. The pigeons though, that was too funny.

I don't know, Noize... the audio matches up too well to be fake. Notice how it changes when he goes into confined areas. That's just too much work! I think that the 'slowness' that you perceived is an illusion from the camera being so close to the ground.

That dude is a maniac!

Hmm I always thought it was real footage, but the whole thing is set up. They shot in really early on a Sunday morning, made sure no one could get on the main roads and all the cars/people you see are in on it.

Ya, it was choreographed for sure.

Watch how slowly he passes a the cars that are moving. In 4th and 5th gear even they should be a blur and go by much quicker.

I do agree the audio and timing is spot on though, save for a few off tire squealing moments that miss by just a pinch.

The sound of the car is a high end engine and its geared very high by the sound of it. at the rev's he is reaching in the audio that car should be going about 145 to 160 in 4th gear and even faster when he winds it out the one time to 5th gear. At that speed the stripes on the road are imperceptible in real life. And in the video I can plainly see them going by.

But nuff said.

I cant get the video posted above but from what your saying it sounds like "Rendezvous" a French film from the late '70s.

Is this it?

Read the wiki on it.

Initially when I first saw it I thought the sound was definately a Fezza, would appear it was faked though. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

Yeah, that's the same film, JDOD.

Amazing! Fake, or not. I don't think it is fake, but that is just my perception. I've never done 150+ in a Fezzza, so...

... I guess I should say that it doesn't 'sound fake'. : )

I've not bothered to listen for the sound of every gearchange etc.
Maybe the bloke who made it just said he did it in his Merc and wasn't going that fast to get himself out of trouble maybe not.

Its either a great peice as it stands or a great piece of sound editing.

Yep, read the Wiki page. And I honestly don't believe he ever reached more the 85 mph mark to tell the truth.
