Not hearing the guitar while you play? That is possibly caused by any of several things. Which I could guess at, but it would be easier to figure out if we knew how you are getting the audio in. An audio interface, the built in sound card. One of the myriad of silly USB chords that state you can simply plug and play, and they don't work most times.
A little info on exactly what you are doing would be really helpful to answer your question's or at least get going in the right direction.
Like what are you plugging into with the guitar, the mic. And how are you listening back, speaker's, headphones? And what are they plugged into as well.
