Most DAW software these days will automatically compensate for the latency introduced by the audio interface/driver. By "Lives input/output" I assume you're talking about Ableton Live recording software, which is assigning a track (2 for instance) to get it's input from your Alesis input 1/2 and output to output 1/2 (track 1). Typically you would load a audio wav file into track 1 (something with sharp transients such as a pre recorded click track) and then record the output (track 1) back into the DAW on track 2, then zoom in and compare the 2 tracks starting times viewing by samples and enter the difference in the audio properties in Ableton in the appropriate place. I don't use Live so can't tell you how to do that you'd need to check the documentation that comes with it.

As far as audio cables they are either standard rca audio cables, or they may be balanced 1/4" jack type cables, input and output should be the same.

It shouldn't be neccessary to do the above at any rate.

It looks as though that unit is bundled with Cubase LE.

I'm with OD though in asking if you are using Ableton Live and that is what you are referring to?

As for the connection's, simply use a 1/3 to 1/4 cable and go from the jacks marked main L/R as those are you main outputs. Have them run to the 1/4" input jacks and as OD stated just do a recording of another audio track from a source track already in place in the DAW.

But most are as stated capable of automatically doing delay compensation.

And that cable is suppose to say 1/4 to 1/4. not 1/3 to 1/4.

My bad on that.
