Usb 2.0 Audio Interface needed

I've recently started doing home recording. I've convinced myself that this will be done primarily with my computer. I've talked to a guy from a music store about what it I would need to get the job done. He says my best route is through USB Audio Interface with phantom power with 2+ ports. I'm only a teenager so my funds are limited, however I wish to see any and all ideas pertaining to resolving my delima.

My computers stats are:

e6750 dual core 2.66(non overclocked)
4 gigs ram
Windows XP 32bit
geforce 8800gt(not that this matters)
quiet with good cooling/clean OS.

If it were me (and I could swing it) I'd get me a Line 6 TonePort UX2. Decent preamps, records two channels at once, and comes with some pretty good software.

We don't really know what you'll be recording, so more information will help us.

And welcome to HRC!

Thanks, And I plan on using it to record

Vocals
Guitar
Bass
etc

Whatever I can't directly connect then I will use a microphone.

I'd concur. Lots of happy customers on here with the UX2.

Are you just recording yourself, 1 track at a time? Or will you be recording jam sessions with friends? I'm just trying to narrow down how many channels you will need. 1 channel for each track you want to record simultaneously. 2 inputs is a good starting point, but the minute you decide to record a drum kit is when you'll outgrow a 2-in/2-out interface.

UX2 on a budget any day.

Have a look here. Its a couple of pages so take a minute to read it all. I use mine more often then I ever thought I would. Almost more then a couple of my higher end multi input interfaces.
