OK, so I was chatting with a cohort over on t61 and he turned me onto this chick. mysti mayhem is what she goes by. I figured I got a couple minutes to spare while the Rays bedroom gets vacuumed before we move the furniture back in. So I checked one out. A cover of the Foo Fighters tune listed above, which I like the original a lot. I was surprised that this silly video simply sucked me in and would not let me go. Never had that happen before. Maybe she is some kind of video Siren? Either way, she actually has a pretty good arrangement of the tune and sings very well.

Hook: Is someone getting the best of you?

She works it well. The reading glasses, the direct eye contact, the "librarian" look..

Ask her and she'll tell you.

"Mfft. Smart guys dig me."

I get that, Noize. Eh, duh?

She's apperantly from here and started out gigging with some guys that I know.

But ya, the dual personality's in the video are maybe what got me. Checked a couple more out while resting from moving furniture. An interesting chick for certain. She does seem to play that librarian thing out very well. It gets me sucked in for sure.

Maybe I'm just lonely?

OD, indeed she does have a great voice. She can be sweet and sincere and then belt out a pretty gritty bluesy thing as well. I checked a few more of her video's out as well. She is really good from what I am seeing.

Listening to a lot of the whiney broads out there these days I am wondering why a balls out chick like that doesn't have a contract with someone. And she can play a few different instruments it appears. And is from all appearances a very good arranger as well.

Yeah it is a shame that so much of the music today goes for one sound, what ever happened to variety. There was a time not long ago you could turn the radio on and hear everything from Manillow (not that I'm a fan :P) to AC/DC and more on the same station, sure seems a shame.

I listened to some of her others as well, good stuff for sure.

Ya, we have The Current here now. Its a public broadcasting station. Member supported so they can play whatever their little hearts desire. So in one day you'll hear Johnny Cash followed by the Sex Pistols, followed by maybe some Dean Martin or Bing and then a little NIN after that.

You get the idea though. They are the only station here now playing local music again. You can check em out streaming at www.thecurrent.org

You'll hear just about anything on there that you won't hear anywhere else. No top 40 crap.
