I am PC guy but have a G5 in my studio. I removed programs that I dont want/need from the dock and then went into applications and moved them to Trash and emptied the trash. I am assuming there are additional steps? I basically just want to trim all the fat on the computer since it is only used for Music. Please let me know. Thanks.

Not a Mac guy at all. And not may around here either. But you had it right for the most part. Mac has always had a problem were it has no un installer nor do the programs written for it. That is one reason Mac's are a cluster **** for file organization. Lots of un used junk left lying around on them.

There's no registry in Unix based OS's so like DOS you just delete the file and it's gone... unless there's crazy system settings in which case it won't really matter anyway. as the setting will never be called for.

And make sure you know what it is you are deleting... there's a lot of unix applications in there that are command line only and make use of front ends to be normally interacted with... so you might delete the backend accidentally.

I just got done reading about it. Not all, but many programs leave junk behind when you do the drag to the trash option. These days some programs do leave junk laying around in other area's of the disc.

There are 2 utilities for mac that will wipe out programs and all there junk with a click. AppZapper and AppDelete. If I remember correctly you get a certain number of free Zaps/Deletes, and then there was something like a $5 fee for one and a just a few $$ more for the other. But I have found them to be very useful the few times they were needed.

Just wanted to add that I found out AppZapper is 12.95 after trial period.
