Cool Edit Pro not recording.

OS: Vista (64bit)

Well, I can listen to music, but I can't record anything on Cool Edit Pro? I'm trying to record a sound clip, and this comes up:

"A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system. An error was generated by your soundcard. It may not be properly configured - reinstall your soundcard driver, check the sound card documentation and if necessary contact the sound card manufacturere to help you resolve this hardware error"

That's really weird, I've never had this before. I uninstalled my sound card, then installed it, and still, the same things.
