Need help with effects in sections in Acid Pro 7

I'm currently hitting a wall on a certain issue. I have been learning this home recording thing as I go for a year or two now, and I am not sure what to do here.

I am in the process of recording a demo with my metal band, and we have a couple songs all tracked. During the mix, there are certtain parts I would like to have effects on vocals.

Lets say for an example, a line in the lyrics ands with the word 'trust'. What do you do if you want just that one word to have a delay effect on it so it repeats in the tempo of the song and fades out as it is repeating? There are sections of our songs where we want effects to only hit certain certsain parts without it effect the whole track.

Any idea on what features I need to look into? I see an assignable FXs section, and I tried that but couldn't seem to get it to work.

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure how Acid Pro 7 does automation but what I do is one of two things depending on what the situation calls for and if there is any other part of the vocal it might bleed into while repeating.

1: If there is plenty of room for the repeat to fade out without interfering with more vocal on the same track. I simply set the effect up and set it to record automation or simply do a one shot of it. The FX is turned on just a few milliseconds before the vocal bit. The automation turns it back off right after the fade is done. You will need to write in a volume fade as well. But don't forget to turn the volume back up to normal level again if using the same track.

2: Simply copy the single word or phrase you want to have the effect on to a track below it and effect only that track. Then you are open to have the echo ring out as long as needed. Then again simply automate the volume fade up and down as needed.

Thats what I was doing before, but I figured there was an easier more 'pro' weay to do it hahaha. Thanks again Noise. I'll keep it in mind for our tracks when I get over being sick and get back to recording,

Automation or manual processing of said portion. I actually prefer the manual process when just hitting a few spots.

I would actually take all processed words to their own track so I can have independent volume control as FX can affect volume level (oh, noize said that).

Also, you could double\triple track the phrase\word and apply FX to the extra takes only. This results in a huge sound yet still lets the lead shine through, it works well with metal imo.

Yep, to be honest that is what I do. I simply copy the phrase I need to another track and effect that only. In the end it is more work sometimes but it usually pays off by sounding more Pro if you will. :-)

Get well Rock. I'm almost caught up here now after finishing that scout movie deal.
