Feb 28, 2009 08:07 pm OK, I gotta ask.
Why are you plugging one expensive channel strip into another in the first place?
You do realize the 737 is basically the same thing as the Alpha, just a different brand?
I'm not trying to be mean here, but that is some expensive gear to have and not know what to plug in. I'd be worried about burning something up, as in wrecking the thing.
I guess to answer the question though we'll need info on exactly what you are trying to accomplish by plugging one pre into another pre's insert.
Feb 28, 2009 08:52 pm I'd plug the one preamp's line out into the converter's line input and leave the other preamp out of the story.
But that's just me...
Mar 01, 2009 01:14 am I've got the answer. Give me one and you keep one and you won't have this dilemma. :)

Mar 01, 2009 04:31 pm I'm with MM as well. But I'm curious as to why one would want to plug a couple of expensive pre's piggy backed.

Mar 01, 2009 09:45 pm I guess it would be.
Out of all the odd and rule breaking things I've done in all my years, I've never tied two high end Pre together. Just never thought it would be worth the effort.
but good point on the extra mojo for sure.
Mar 01, 2009 11:56 pm Still, you'd have to go from the line out of one into the line in of the other (bypassing the preamp) and then...
Well, you see, then...
I have no idea.

Mar 02, 2009 02:15 am i thought maybe would want to go in sound card ssl.. but keep tube on mic,,meaning avalon,, but i guess its one or the other,,,duh!! lol
Mar 02, 2009 09:52 am IMO, any time you can keep another tube out of the chain, you're in good shape.
I freaking hate tubes.
I don't mind vintage gear that has tubes - I don't mind gear that actually relies on tubes in the signal path - But I avoid them like the plague otherwise.
