There's been a few threads on free plugins, they're pretty easy to find.

thanks alot, those are great, i am also looking for something free that would filter vocals, to sound like a megaphone, and some time to thicken up a bassline, any ideas?

Megaphone is simple. Leave the frequencies between 1K and 3K alone and cut the rest.

There are unlimited opinions on creating thick bass lines. I'm sure the other fellas here have some; I'd start with a thick sounding bass.

I guess my question would be what exactly do you mean by thicken up?

Is it just not there in the mix or too quiet?

I use a heavy dose of compression and a saturation plug on thin sounding bass lines.

it's there in the mix, if i really crank it, i have the gain up high, but it just doest cut through, and i need it to sound nice and fat, if you know what i mean?

Then EQ and compression will help that out. I'd use a multi-band compressor and tweak the EQ section of the multi to get a fat tone out of it. Then crank the compression and let it rip.

Like I say, a bit of saturation will help give it some beef as well.

Definitely compress that bass. With the multiband compressor, I'd try putting the crossover frequency at 120Hz to start with. Then really compress the heck out of everything below that point but leave some dynamics in everything above that point. That way you'll get a good solid low end but still have some life left in the upper range.

Also put a parametric EQ on the bass and start sweeping with a boost and a medium-sized Q. Listen for the frequency range that emphasizes the upper midrange of the instrument. Then you'll know which frequencies you'll need to attenuate on other tracks to let these frequencies shine through on the bass track.

Also you'll want to figure out where the "thump" of your kick drum is and notch out -3dB or so in that same spot for your bass track. Otherwise the kick drum loses its thump amidst the thick low end of the bass track.
