Disable wireless internet?

I'm recording on a laptop, using Cubase LE4 and a lexicon omega interface, my recording drops outs sometimes and its'a real pain. Someone said if i disable my wireless internet it would free up some space, but if i do this, can i enable it when i need it again? or should i not even worry about this, cuz i hear it can also be a buffering/latency problem? or maybe i need to upgrade ram? i only have one gig

suggestions?
