Less distortion... Cut the mids (After you've recorded). Boost the highs a little? That's all just taste though... I'd say, you just need a good pre. Not sure how much better your "just to my computer" thing will sound.

Yep, I have mentioned this in a few other threads now and I'll repeat it here o ne more time.

The sound you are getting is based on several things. Follow this closely.

1: The microphone you are using is only capable of picking up a certain amount of sound quality. Better quality means a better mic to start the signal chain with.

2: a pre amp of some kind will be needed with a better mic. I assume your mic is a PC type mic and going directly into the built in sound card on the PC. That in itself is hampering your chances of getting a higher quality sound to start with.

3: The MG15 with on 8" speaker is only capable of so much. Part of the noise you are getting is due to the level of distortion you are pushing through that 8" speaker. It is only capable of reproducing so much.

4: You can modify a cleaner tone in the PC with some of the pluggins out there. But that takes a bit more PC power to do as well.

But try some of the tips handed out above. First and foremost try using a bit less distortion and volume level.
