CABLES????

Hello,

I am looking for Patch cable recommendations. I am going to replace all the cables in my guitar rig/rack. I have a bunch of small cables that go from my pedals to my G system loops and to and from some other rack gear. I need cables that come in Right angle-straight plugs. I am looking for something high end to improve my sound.

Right now im having a problem, whenever the patch cables in my rack, are bumping up against any of the ac adapters plugged into my furman, I get a really loud buzzing noise from my amp. Im guessing thats because i am using cheap cables.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Anthony

I would suspect that there's some sort of defect in the cable, more than likely in the connector. As a rule of thumb, keep signal cables away from power cables. If you must cross them, do it at a right angle so you'll minimize any interference. That goes for your home studio, guitar rig, computer setup, home stereo setup...anywhere where you mix cables that carry audio signal with cables that carry a power supply.

There are a few brands that offer a do-it-yourself kit for effects interconnects. George L, Planet Waves and Seymour Duncan (or was it DiMarzio?) come to mind. They give you a spool of good cable plus several connectors so you can cut your own cable to the appropriate length for your setup. That way you don't have a bunch of extra slack in your rig, causing the kinds of problems you're experiencing.

This was the only link I could dig up:

I'm not one to buy into the hype surrounding cable quality. If it successfully conducts electricity and is sufficiently shielded as to not allow interference from other cables, then its going to be indistinguishable from "high end" cables.

Just stay away from Monster cable. Its good cable, but WAY overpriced. Plus that company is the epitome of evil corporate bullying. Hell, they'll probably want a fee for me to even mention their brand name in a public forum. Down with Monster cable!
