Does anybody have any suggestions on where I could find a cheap of sonar or pro tools? I'm using Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 and I'm in need of an upgrade.

Feb 06, 2009 08:33 am Sonar Home Studio XL (with loads of plugs and virtual instruments) is only like $100 or so with your upgrade figured in. I looked at the newest Home Studio release and it's pretty awesome.
ProTools never comes cheap, and it requires specific hardware too.
Why exactly do you need an upgrade, what are you not able to do in your current rig?
Feb 06, 2009 11:09 am Pro Tools is just an expensive name if you ask me. Don't fall into that pile of crap that you need it to make great recordings. I am using Sony Acid Pro 7 and my stuff sounds way better then local pro tools guy does. He has a great multi million dollar studio, but doesn't seem to know how to run it.

Feb 06, 2009 10:27 pm Yep, PT does not fall in the cheap category no matter how you go about it.
And Sonar Home Studio XL would be the better bet. There is no cheap version of that either I'm afraid.
