OK, you have the latest drivers that you just downloaded. The latest release is Fast Track Pro 06/09/2008 5.10.00.5119v2. So if you don't have that one it isn't the most recent.

Onward we go though. Is it Cubase LE you are using?

The problem sounds common. It is more then likely the latency buffer but can also relate to other things.

Go into the driver settings and make certain that you are using the ASIO driver and not the MME driver which is the default driver. That MME driver will be nothing but trouble.

Also check to make certain the ASIO buffer is set to around 256 or even 512. You can try 128 with ASIO, but if it crackles bump it up.

On the USB wireless. Oh ya, disconnect that or anything else using that type of resource. Especially with Vista, as Vista does not handle resource sharing well at all. And make certain to shut down any other programs running, including background crap.

What are the spec's of the PC anyway. CPU speed and amount of RAM. That can also attribute to the problem you are having.

I just got the Fast Track Pro and I am completely lost. I got the 06/09/2008 5.10 etc driver installed. When I plug in my Rode NT1-A nothing happens. I'm a novice as far as vocal recording. I connected my Fast Track to my Pavilion via USG and connected my microphone in the front Fast Track Line 1/2. I thought that just hooking up my Fast Track to my computer via USB was enough but I get no signal data. My computer acknowledges that I have my driver installed but I'm getting nothing. I already opened my control panel and selected my Fast Track as the default recorder. I tried using Cubase, Cool Edit, and Magix but nothing. Am I missing another connection from my Fast Track to my computer besides the USB or what? Help please.

Lets run through this quickly.

1: You installed the driver package first before you plugged the Fast Track in?

2: You plugged the FT in and let windows run through the entire install process as it needs to do before it will work properly?

3: You have selected the drivers in cubase options for audio intput/output?

4: You have selected the correct input/output for each track in Cubase?

Lastly, if you did not follow step 1 completely and correctly you will not get it to do anything. Windows may show it is there but the software will not allow it to function because the drivers are not correctly installed.
