I have had my M-Audio Firewire 410 audio interface hooked up to my Macbook for almost a year now with no problems.
All of a sudden...I set it back up after it being disconnected and properly put away for a few days. After I patched up the last of the connections, I checked the signal to the interface and I get working lights and signal. Turn on the monitors annnnnnd NOTHING. I plugged in headphones to the interface annnd NOTHING.
I have no idea what's going on...I've tried restarting the computer, reinstalling the drivers, and checked for updates for the OS but still nothing. someone please help, I need this back up for work/school. very important to me
Also, I've had some problems with my mac recently (can't access the System Preferences) which I had started a topic about in a forum below, but my interface still worked up until today, whereas I've had these mac problems for a few months now.

Jan 09, 2009 11:28 pm I will probably take a guess and put that in with not accessing the system preferences as well.
I do believe, although I am not a Mac person at all that you might find the interface disabled in the system audio preferences and that is what is causing the issue of it not sending or receiving audio signal.
Jan 11, 2009 08:13 pm The weird thing is that I do get signal I/O lights flashing. Just have no sound coming out of my monitors...just my built in speakers on my macbook. And I know my monitors are fine because I tested them with my mixing board from a different source.

Jan 12, 2009 05:55 pm Well, if your getting sound out of the built in speakers then that means that the system and everything that plays back music is directed at the system sound card, not the firewire interface. So that would explain why you can't hear anything out of the monitor's or the headphones. There is nothing be directed at them from what your saying there.

Anyways, it's been days now and the problems stills haunts me. Here's how I have things set up for a little more clarity...
Macbook => Firewire 410 => L/R Monitors

Behringer Xenyx 1202 Mixer

Desktop PC
(For gaming audio playback)
*(tested this way)bypassed interface, it's what i meant when i said monitors worked
Again, I can't access preferences for ANYTHING stated above. See link.
Thanks for reading this all.

Jan 17, 2009 07:29 pm But that is what I am getting at. You can't access preferences and your audio is coming out of the Macbooks onboard speakers. That means that it isn't directing sound to the 410 at all, it is directing it at its own on board sound chip. So unless you can get in there and change that you are out of luck.
So in the end, it isn't the fault of the 410 itself. It is more then likely in the control panel preferences which you cannot access. It is probably nothing more then a muted output or control.
But I am not a Mac person so I am of no help with the preferences thing at all.
Maybe one of the other Mac users here will pop in and have an idea.
