Hey everyone! This is my first post! I have a nice DJ setup, technic TT's and a vestax mixer, but I need a USB mixer to start recording stuff on my computer. I also have a midi keyboard Yamaha MM6 I would like to start recording with also, but none of this can begin until I get this USB mixer. My birthday is on the 10th so I might ask for this for my bday. I've been looking at the Yamaha MW10C 10-Channel and Yamaha MW8CX 8-Channel. But I also I've been looking at the With MP3 Player Alesis iMultiMix 8 USB with the Ipod dock. Please tell me what you guys think :) thnx!

I'm not an expert on those, but I know that the yama usb decks only move 2 channels to the computer: stereo. I think there's alesis mixers that are (firewire / usb) that will send individual tracks.

That may not be an issue for you, but it's good to know, in case you didn't know that yet.

Thinking about it, you may want only a 2 channel output to computer. Having a bunch of different tracks to mix can become labor intensive. It can give you better control, but for DJ recording, just the main stereo feed may be all you need.

dunno, just thinking out loud, i guess.

Welcome to HRC first off.

While I have heard some reports of Alesis firewire mixers having a few problems, I have not heard any on the USB version's as of yet.

Although I am probably leaned more toward the Yamaha I think in your case the Alesis might fill the need better. It might give you a bit more versatility and be used in a live rig as well.

The 8 channel Yamaha is no longer being made and appears to be out of stock at most of the big names such as zZounds and Musicians Friend and Sweetwater so that is a check mark on that one.

But as I stated, I'm thinking the Alesis might work out better in the long run for your needs.

Actually Musicians Friend does have the 8 channel Yamaha mixer, that's basically the only site I check and buy from because they are so reliable.

Sorry to bring the bummer news but you are wrong on that one.

If you look to the right of the picture of the mixer you will see a little yellowish box with red letters in it that say.

We're sorry, this product has been discontinued.

The page still works but it is no longer being made. They have to keep the page data up for a certain amount of time after it is discontinued so that is why it is there.
