A great first attempt, I have'nt much to offer mixwise at this time as I'm on my laptop but; that lead tone sure sounds great from what I can tell, very warm and smooth. Drums are clean and all parts are well played.

It may seem a little dry, but I would want to listen on my monitors before making any real suggestions.

Ya got me just with the Blues part.

Honestly I liked the sound of the guitars for sure. Nicely done there for sure. The bass fit nicely can did not distract from the guitars at all. I wanted it to just keep going though and not stop.

What did you use for the drums? I assume it is an outboard drum machine by the beat that was going, but ya never know.

The only thing I would recommend would maybe change up the drums a bit for a little variance. Other then that it is completely killer for a first time out.

What did you record and mix it on, PC or stand alone 8 track or?

Either way it is very cool.

Thanks for the kind words...very much appreciate the encouragement!

This was recorded on a Boss BR900. Drums were on-board, although I did program in that basic pattern. The editor on the BR900 is a bit of a pain, hence the lack of any variety on this track. I would like to get something better to use than the on-board drums, but have yet to investigate my options.

Believe it or not, the guitar I used for all 3 guitar tracks is a Squier Mini that goes new for $100! I plugged it in direct and used the effects on-board the BR900. Bass guitar is a cheap used Ibanez I picked up just for recording.

Next steps:

- Write something more original than a 12-bar blues.
- Improve drum situation.
- Add in some keys (I have a Roland digital piano - not very good synth capabilities though so may just use the piano sounds until a new synth shows up!)

I have to say, I'm impressed then with the sounds that the BR got on the guitars. Even more so that it was a cheap guitar as well. I'll attribute some of that to good playing on your part then for sure.

I wish a new synth would just show up here.

I will be waiting to hear something new then. If this was a first take I can't wait to hear the second.

I was pretty surprised with the guitar sound too. I have a Strat and a PRS too (enough dollars combined to buy about 32 Minis!) but I thought I would plug in the Mini for a bit of fun while I was learning the new 8 track...and just had to record it!

You mean there is no synth fairy? Dammit...

I so wish there was one. Then again, I wish I had more room for more. I'd love to get a few of my old analog units back. But I'll live with my current rack of synths and the plethora of software ones out now that are almost as good as some of my old analog gear.

PRS, I've been looking at one and wanting to add it. But I think I'm over my budget for new toys this year.
