Hey guys,

Thought you might want a little preview of the project that I am currently working on. It's one of the tracks off my band's new 4 Track EP that we are currently recording.

Any questions or comments are welcomed.

That sounds awesome Jues! I really like the song. Good riffs! Are you planning to have vocals on this?

quick question: what do the letters EP and LP mean?

EP = "Extended Play"
LP = "Long PLay"

These are terms that have been adapted from the old vinyl days when a single was considered a "record". A full-length album was a "Long Play" record becuase, well, it was longer than a regular record which only had one song on each side. An "EP" has always referred to a record that is more than a "single" but is not a full-length album.

Wow, once again, that's an awesome recording! It sounds extremely pro. The guitar riffs are awesome and I couldn't find any trace of a mistake anywhere. I love the full distorted electric sound. One question: Did you double up the clean electric guitar parts or just delay the same one between the two speakers?

Thanks guys :)

In answer to some questions - Yes, we are gonna do the vocals on it, but first we have to finish doing the bass guitar recording (only one more track to do) and then record all the real guitar (the one that you are hearing at the moment is just the guide guitar sound - totally flat, using the mic'ing technique I covered in my tute (so now you know how to get that sound :) I reckon I should have the whole thing done (all post-pro and mastering) in about a month and a half - give or take a bit.

I'll keep you all posted with how things go - I will also write some tutes as I go along so you can see how I got certains sounds.

Excellant start jues, I like the guitar again as always. Very think and heavy. nice touch adding the softer guitar pass. I also like the sound you are getting on the snare drum. when the hit is in a quite place it really snaps or should I say cracks. Very good indeed.

Peace

Thanks Noize.

The Snare in the quiet section is actually a different snare the the rest of the song - our drummer has two snares you see - his main snare an a smaller "picclo" snare. I treated that with a lot of compression and some dark plate reverb (basically, get a lare plate reverb and then roll off the top end above 4.3Khz)

The drum sound is quite a long way from being complete - our drummer is never happy with things :) BTW: What do you guys think of the kick drum sound? I spent quite a while on that to try and do something "different" with it.

I didnt get to listen to it loud enough tonight, but I will give it a better listen tommorrow and let ya know. At low volume though it seemed to come through nicely.

Well, had a chnace to listen to it a little louder this afternoon. I like the punchiness of it. It has a good thump to it without being over powering. I also noticed it seemed to have a differant smack to it, not the normal beater smack. It could maybe come jp in the mix just a hair as when the guitars get really down low it seems to fade ever so slightly. That could just be me though too, the hearing is a little mushy today. I liked the rest of the drum kit also, the toms had a nice thud to them, with just a tiny bit of ring.

Jues,
That thing kicks!! I like the stops and starts. I also really like how unpredictable it was. Every time I thought it was gonna do something it would take a different direction. Excellent! Can't wait to hear the lyrics for it. Great job!

Jues,
"Swandive" is bangin'!!! Killer groove. I had a hard time makin' out some of the vocals but really liked what I heard. Band definately has game. Bass player is a bad man! Your samples were laid in nicely also. Really liked it. Keep it up.
Keep the faith.

Yes, I gotta agree on that Swandive is a very good tune. I think you will be hearing more of that tune soon! And flipcycle is one kick @$$ band if I may say so myself.
