I was wondering on what you think to it, bearing in mind I havent panned anything at all (totally forgot) and I know the drums are extremely boring,

I was also wondering how to make the MIDI drums sound less robotic?

Any feedback on anything would be nice for improvements or whatever :)

Its under Eyelash Cancer

cheers

My ears are bleeding. :D Is that your voice.. how do you do that? Being that I always have a hoarse voice, I imagine 3 seconds of doing that would put me out of talking for a month. Or is that processed to come out?

I agree with you..the drums are quite the common midi/soundcard variety.. but the beat seems to work well with the song.

What software are you using... you can easily spurce up the drums in Live maybe.. but I am still learning all this good stuff myself.

Ya, what software did you record that with? You can edit the midi a bit with the velocity for each note to vary them slightly to make it sound more real. Did you use just a GM drum set or some other drum software? There are a couple of low budget drum software's out there as well as one or two free bits I do believe that you can use that might have a little better sound set.

Otherwise, I didn't really hear any bass in there. That could probably use a bit of a boost or some EQ to bring it out in the mix a bit.

Otherwise nicely done.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Haha no that aint my voice although i'm trying to learn how to do that style of vocals its my friend who used to be in the band, Its all him doing it with some echo and reverb on it, i think we added a pitchshifter that moved his vocals down a hell of a lot in the first verse to see if anyone would notice haha :)
I'm using Cubase with EZDrummer's DFH as a VST instrument just used a drum map and mapped out the drum pattern.

Yeah I'll have to try editing velocity to each note to try and get a more human feel,
Ive always had problems with bass haha, never been able to get the right low end on it,

Also I was wondering if the sound of the bass may be something to do with my recording method at the moment?

I tend to get an old kareoke mic, rest it on the lip of the amp and plug it straight into my laptops mic socket, pretty nasty method!

I always use looped drums in REAPER. I got the loops from Beta Monkey. I can often get drums to sound pretty good I think. I'm pretty sure you could get drums to sound more live than that with some good loops. In fact if you tell me the tempo of the song I'll make one for you.

i've heard a couple of people lately say EZdrummer sounds unnatural.

i dont why ya dont just use loops it comes with, and turn the humanizing effect on, and then change them to the way you want em in the drum map.

im using EZ and dont seem to have any issues at all with it sounding unreal.

with ya bass do a direct in, maybe use a pedal on clean if you dont have an interface, just to give it some balls.

cheers for the offer JDOD, but i prefer to do stuff myself because then i learn better and know :)

yeah i guess the EZ drummer only sounds un-natural if you dont mess with velocitys and I sometimes try to quantize it and slide it a bit off to make it sound a bit more human

i guess you can get the loops and just move them around though :)

The best thing I ever did for the drums in my songs was purchase a MIDI controller with velocity-sensitive keys.

EZ has a "humanizing" button, when thats on and you drag a loop in, go into the drum map and check it out, each loop is different from one another and hardly ever the same in say every 4 or so loops.
not only that, but it not just one drum that changes but all of them do including the hats.
hence the humanizing button, jeez im smart, not!)

its only when ya go changing em and you use say, the snap function in the software that they go back to exacts.
i use the snap function and then just move some around slightly off the exact spot. not too many though, just every so often.
once you've made a few though you can just duplicate em as you need em and put them in different positions.

i guess im not telling you anything you dont know though already.

Only thing i have found with EZ, is ya can make the drums sound fake by puling too much eq "out" of em. IMO i only add a little eq around on them, because they seem to be already eq'd for the user, a little too much for some even.
they can sound thin if you let them.
