I have the UX8, I think gearbox is great for bass, guitars and vox.

Ya, you might be able to kill both birds with that one stone by going the UX-8 route.

Just a thought.

A little pricey(ux-8),i was hoping to get a few pieces for the sale of the 2626. Ive read the konnekt 6 has excellent pre's(x2) and the ad/da convert is also.Plus,i think you can link 2 together for more I/O and they go fairly cheap on Ebay.I wanted the ux-2 for the vocal pre's which i think kick ***. Can't seem to find a whole lot of reviews or blogs on the K6, thanks for the suggestion though.

I have a buddy who has used the K6 and I'll hit him up tomorrow and post back what I find out.

But indeed, I love the pre models in the UX-2 as well.

Oh, I was not saying you needed the UX8, but it does the same thing as the UX2 so I figured I could comment. I was just giving a thumbs up for L6.

Really though I think $500 for 8 mic pre's, 2 channels of modeling, some free model packs and the gearbox .VST plugin is a good deal.

Also, the K6 only has 1 mic pre as far as I can tell. Two inputs but only one mic pre. For the price, I would definitely lean towards the UX2.

Thanks cpt,
Yeah,it does only have 1 mic pre but im a solo musician so that wouldnt be a big problem. The ux2 has excellent mic pre's and im a fan of L6 myself, and for the price its hard to beat. Ill dig a little deeper into the ux8 but choosing an interface has always been my biggest dilema,so many good ones around and most are pretty reasonably prices.
tahnks.

I just read a comment on a forum that said the toneport software has problems running on AMD chipsets? Know anything about this?
Whats the difference between pod-farm and gearbox software..

I've never run anything but AMD and have never had any trouble at all.

POD Farm is simply a newer version of the Gearbox plugin for VST. The Gearbox software is still what you would use for tweaking. That's what I use.

As a solo musician I can see that. I have only ran two mics for acoustic + singing one time. Usually I record guitars and vox seperate.

Yeah, I never could sing and play at the same time so i record everything individually, usually the vox last, which is my real weakness, hope the v-vocal comes to my rescue:).
Hey Noize, heard anything from that friend about the k6?
Thanks guys.

I have not heard back from him yet. I shot him an email to have him just shoot me his thoughts via email.

I'll post as soon as I get it. I'm guessing probly tomorrow though now as he is eastern and more then likely sleeping at the moment.

Hey Kain, got an email from him on it.

Funny how he put his beef's with it first, don't know what to think about that.

Anyway, he didn't care for the fact that the phones and input jacks are all on the back, but that its small enough it isn't a huge deal. Just think they could have done the front for convenience.

He liked the fact it had the reverb built into the monitoring section to use while tracking. But stated the reverb in it and the plugin are nothing to write home about. He would not track with it.

The unit is pretty light and the build quality is OK he stated.

The software control panel is the bare essentials as is the unit itself, which appealed to him I guess. Nothing extra to get distracted by. Very simple to use.

Audio quality, no better and no worse then others. He felt the unit might be a tad over priced for what it actually is but is keeping it either way as it works fine.

On the working end. He had issues with the supplied install drivers flaking out a bit. After running updated drivers from the website that fixed the problem.

Latency was negligible, again no better and no worse. He had a couple issues but resolved them and is satisfied with the unit.

Thanks Noize,
Yeah,i thought it was a bit over priced too,i was mostly interested in the sound quality but if its only as good as other lower end interfaces i think my best bet would be the UX-2, or maybe the Profire 610.
I still think if i can get a blem or factory re-stock cheap enough having a solid interface, even as a back up would be a good idea, especially as i seem to have bad luck with intefaces. The simplicity is another plus to get ideas down quickly and is portable.
Thanks again for getting the info, it has been a big help.

My thought on it as well was the portability and the ease of use as well. Even the software panel is a piece of cake so it looks.

The UX-2 would give you that option of having 2 mics going if the need ever arose so that is a bit of a plus in its favor. I do like the multi use idea of the UX-2 and use mine frequantly.

I've said it before. I have several other high end interfaces and the UX-2 seems to get in the project more often then not.
