so yeah i've got reason 4. im running it as a rewire into Cubase SX3 but i am getting ridiculous latency. I get the latency whether i am running it as rewire or not. I am using a midi controller connected via USB (doesn't have midi out! :@) its on a brand new top spec pc.

hrm...i use rewire and i have my keyboard connected via usb also but i have no latency issues. how fast is your usb port? or have you checked to see if it's a driver issue?

i just tried it again and the amount of latency has suddenly reduced, but there is still latency there, its impossible to record music in time if when you press the key it dont come through!

i just looked at the casio website and it mentioned an install cd including drviers.

you might want to try downloading and installing the drivers here if you don't have the cd.

i'm goin to bed now...hope you get the latency prob fixed. good luck!

One thing that can happen is if it needs a power supply and your not using it and simply powering it off the USB that can funk things up. I know it says it should work without a power supply but many don't. So maybe score a PSU and get it plugged in and odds are good that will resolve the issue.

i've always powered my keyboard with a power supply. do you reckon its got anything to do with the fact that i'm using just a normal keyboard rather than a specified controller or should that not make any difference?

The controller should not make any difference.

I'll try and take a little time to read through this entire post and get back to you with some ideas. It may likely be the way the interface is set up or a simple setting.

Ok, I'll get the rest of the info from ya and then get you straightened out.

The top spec PC, what is the CPU speed and how much RAM is int it? This is pretty important as it really matters on how well Reason will work.

Also, what are you using for an audio interface? Is it the on board sound card?

This will help get your set up figured out.

I'm thinking part of the blame is on the keyboard itself, but maybe not. We'll se after I see the specs of the PC and audio card.
