2 new songs up!

So I was bored today and decided to play around. The first thing I've got up is a remix of a beastie boys song. The 2nd is a cover of a Jawbreaker song, and holy crap it has vocals and everything! I'm still trying to improve my mixing skills so any input would be appreciated.

Both songs are in my profile. Ch-Ch-Check It Out and Do You Still Hate Me?

Dude!!! That remix is hip. Beastie Boys rock for sure. Interesting choice to remix by the way.

Jawbreaker cover. Loved it for sure. I still dig the guitar tone you get as well. Very well done for sure. Only 2 minor things I would suggest. The tiniest bit of verb up n the vocals, and a bit more punch on the bass. Otherwise, I really liked the kind of raw feel it had.

You know, it's funny. The comments I always get are my guitars sound awesome, and I don't do SQUAT to them. I mic the amp, hit record, pan left and right and go with it. I spend more time working on everything else yet the guitars seem to be my shining star. Go figure.

As for the vocals, I have some verb on them... I started with a little more than what was on there and it just sounded to wet so I backed it off a bit. I guess I still need to find that sweet spot.

I kind of gave up on the bass. I don't have my amp right now so I'm just recording direct and I'm not thrilled with the sound I'm getting. Working on getting a sansamp though so hopefully that will help.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked them.

When I'm stuck doing a direct to board with a bass I will usually smack it pretty hard with a compressor once its on a track. That and you can maybe give it a little boost in the lower mids and upper end to make it bite a little more.
